Fixing leaky wooden mugs

Saw this on the Muzleloader list recently, thought it was an interesting way to fix a leaky wooden mug (noggin) or other wood container. Don't know if it works or not, bu sounds like it would. Definitely more PC than Superglue!

"BTW if any of you have a wooden mug especially cedar that leaks when you have let it dry out you should submerge it in water so as to let the wood swell. If it still leaks after it has swelled, pour some cornmeal in and refill it.The water,as it goes out, will take the meal with it and that should plug the leak pretty well. Some old timers also used to stuff cattails where the bottom and sides meet."
